1. Who we are
This website is operated by PixelWielder Web Studio ("PixelWielder," "we," "us" or "our"), a web design studio based in Richmond, Virginia, that works with small businesses across the United States. PixelWielder Web Studio is the business name of a sole proprietorship: it is owned and run by one person and is not a corporation or limited liability company. We work remotely and mainly by email.
If you have a question about this policy or about your information, email us at pixelwielderwebstudio@gmail.com.
2. Information you give us
You can browse this website without telling us who you are. We receive personal information only when you choose to send it to us.
Project inquiry form
Our Start a Project form asks for:
- your name and email address (required);
- your business name and existing website address (optional);
- the package you are interested in and a description of what you would like to build (required);
- your ideal timing (optional);
- your agreement to be contacted by email about your inquiry (required).
Please do not include passwords, payment card numbers or other sensitive account information in the form or in emails to us.
Emails
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything else you choose to include, such as attachments, along with the technical details that email services normally add.
If you decide to go ahead
Sending an inquiry does not make you a client. If, after we have talked, you want to move forward with a possible project, we may copy the relevant details, such as your name, contact details, business, project notes and any quote we prepare, into our own internal project records so that we can prepare a proposal and manage the work. If you then hire us, we also keep the records needed to deliver the project and run our business, such as the agreement, invoices and payments.
3. Information collected automatically
Like most websites, this site cannot be delivered to your browser without some technical information being exchanged.
- Hosting and delivery. When you visit, our website platform, Framer, receives technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request and the website that referred you. This is needed to deliver the site, keep it secure and protect forms from spam and abuse.
- Website statistics. We use the website statistics built into Framer to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used: for example, which pages are visited, how visitors found the site and which devices and countries they visit from. Framer describes this analytics as privacy-first and states that it does not rely on cookies. We use these statistics only in aggregate; we do not use them to identify you.
- Fonts. Our pages load the Montserrat typeface from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address and standard browser information, as with any web request. Google's handling of that information is described in Google's Privacy Policy.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use cookies or similar technologies to track you across other websites.
Based on our review of how this website is currently set up, it does not place cookies in your browser for analytics or advertising. If we add a service that uses cookies for analytics, advertising or similar purposes, we will update this policy first and, where required, ask for your consent.
Do Not Track. Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. Because we do not track visitors across third-party websites, this website does not change its behavior when it receives that signal.
5. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- read and reply to your inquiry, and follow up by email about it;
- if you choose to proceed, evaluate your potential project and prepare a written scope, proposal or quote;
- manage our working relationship if you become a client (a project itself is governed by a separate written agreement);
- operate, maintain and secure the website, including protecting our forms from spam and abuse;
- understand, in aggregate, how the website is used so we can improve it;
- keep reasonable business records, and comply with legal obligations or protect our rights where necessary.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for targeted advertising and we do not add you to a mailing list because you sent an inquiry.
6. Who helps us handle information
We use a small number of service providers to run this website and our email. They handle information on our behalf so that we can provide the website and respond to you:
- Framer hosts this website, provides the inquiry form, its spam protection and the website statistics described above, and delivers form submissions to our email inbox. Framer's own practices are described in its Privacy Statement.
- Google provides our email service (Gmail), where your inquiry and any emails you send us are received and stored, and Google Fonts, as described in section 3. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Our internal project records, described in section 2, are kept in a project-management tool we run ourselves on our own computer. It is not an online service, and it is not connected to the website form: information gets there only when we copy it in by hand. We keep backup copies of those records.
We may also disclose information if we believe in good faith that the law requires it, or where it is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety or property of PixelWielder, our clients or others. If PixelWielder's business were ever transferred to another owner, information we hold could transfer as part of that business, subject to this policy.
7. Where information is processed
PixelWielder is based in the United States. Our service providers may store and process information in the United States and in other countries where they or their own providers operate.
8. How long we keep information
Inquiries that do not become client projects are generally retained for no longer than 12 months after our last substantive communication. We may delete them sooner when they are no longer needed. We may retain limited information longer when reasonably necessary to comply with legal obligations, maintain required business records, or resolve disputes. This applies whether the inquiry is in our email or has been copied into our internal project records.
If you become a client, we keep project and business records, such as the agreement, correspondence, invoices and payments, for as long as needed to deliver and support the project, run our business and meet our legal and tax obligations. Different records may be kept for different periods.
Our service providers keep the technical and statistical data they process under their own retention practices.
9. How we protect information
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we receive. For example, inquiries arrive in an email account that only the studio's owner can access and that is protected by two-step verification, and our internal project records are kept on our own computer rather than in an online service. No website, email service or method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your choices and requests
You can always choose not to send us information. If you have sent us an inquiry or an email, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you;
- correct it; or
- delete it, unless we need to keep it for a legitimate business or legal reason.
A request covers your inquiry emails and any copy in our internal project records.
To make a request, email pixelwielderwebstudio@gmail.com. We may need to confirm that the request comes from you before acting on it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under the privacy laws that apply to you, and we will respond to requests as those laws require.
11. Children's privacy
This website is intended for business owners and other adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please email us and we will delete it.
12. Links to other websites
This website links to other websites, such as our Riverstone concept website, photographers' pages and our service providers' policies. Their owners' privacy practices apply when you visit them, not this policy.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our website, services or legal requirements change. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and change the effective date below. If a change is significant, we will make it clear on the website.
